Before you order: Server CPUs
The questions we ask before quoting. Answer them in the line notes and the first reply is usually the final one.
- The socket has to match the board: SP5 for current EPYC, LGA4677 or LGA7529 for current Xeon. Tell us the server model and we will confirm the fit.
- Check the chassis and cooler are rated for the TDP. The highest-core parts often need upgraded cooling.
- Quote processors in pairs for two-socket servers, and mention any spares you want held.
- Per-core software licences can outweigh the hardware cost. A lower-core, higher-frequency part is sometimes the cheaper system.
